Blood pressure entry using OCR

For people using manual blood pressure monitors it would be a nice touch if you could enter your BP result by using the phone’s camera and OCR (optical character recognition). Most of the manual blood pressure machines have quite simple output (see attached picture).

If the app had an option to “Enter blood pressure with OCR” and then it would use the phone’s camera and point it at the BP machine output (like scanning a QR code). The app would let you specify which numbers on the screen correspond to which BP reading. A more advanced version of this would be to be able to specify, and save, the regions where each numerical reading shows and automatically be able to recognize that in the future. This more advanced option would be a one-time setup as most people I don’t imagine are changing their manual BP machines often at home so the first time config would speed up reading data entry moving forward.
